Cristina holds a Bachelor's in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Low Incidence Special Education from Northern Arizona University where she also completed her post-graduate ABA coursework. She has a graduate certificate in both Positive Behavior Support and Autism. She started in the field as a special education teacher and still maintains current teaching certificates. She has worked with clients across the spectrum, including children with Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS, and moderate to severe Autism for 18 years. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and has experience with techniques based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including Pivotal Response Training, Discrete Trial Training, Verbal Behavior, Positive Behavior Support and Functional Communication Training. She has also completed extensive training from the Division TEACCH. She has experience in various settings including schools, community and in-home programming. In her practice, Cristina emphasizes goals that are relevant and meaningful to the individual's quality of life. Research has clearly documented the effectiveness of applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods in education and treatment of people with autism. Cristina can work with families, educators and other caregivers in any setting.
